Q.&A.: Double-Duty for a Bluetooth Headset

I have a work cellphone and a personal cellphone as well. Can I use the same Bluetooth headset with both?

Older Bluetooth headsets typically only connect with one phone at a time. That is, until you go through the hassle of disconnecting it from the first phone and pairing it with the second. But some newer headsets can save you the trouble.

Bluetooth headsets that support multipoint technology in their specifications can be paired with two different phones at the same time. This comes in handy if you have both phones with you and one of them rings; you can use the headset to pick up the call without having to fiddle around between phones. Depending on the headset, you may also be able to interrupt a current call on one phone to answer an incoming call on the other.

Sound ID ... supports the multipoint function. Even though it’s a fairly common feature these days, check the headset’s specifications to make sure multipoint is part of the package if you’re shopping around.
